We are pleased to announce signing Norwegian DSO Fagne for a two-year agreement on grid monitoring and optimization. The solution will be part of the CINELDI project involving several DSOs, the TSO Statnett and the research institute SINTEF.
Fagne are connecting new hydro power to its grid, and the solutions from Heimdall Power will help make this happen faster, cheaper and in a more secure way.
In short 7 sensors will be applied on 3 power lines and will help Fagne address three concrete and related challenges. First, our Heimdall NeuronsTM will provide data on the true capacity of the lines, monitor ice load and distance to ground for critical spans, and thus improve the ability of Fagne to include new hydro generation in their system. Second, Fagne is going to rebuild a line. Our solutions will then help Fagne monitor how other lines are affected by the shift in load flow, helping them ensure safe and efficient operations during construction. Finally, our capacity monitoring will be used to avoid postponing maintenance work and fixing faults – more knowledge of grid capacities will identify more safe maintenance windows and improve security of supply.
This project is a good example of a smart, digital, and green energy transition. Low-cost technology from Heimdall Power is implemented fast, has immediate effect, making it possible to connect renewables and operate, maintain, and develop a transitioning infrastructure in a safer and more knowledge-based way."
