Physical Neurons to be installed at critical grid points, building on existing project with Virtual Neurons.

After more than six months of good results from its initial deployment of Heimdall Power’s Virtual Neurons, Energienetze Offenbach (ENO) is now expanding its existing project by installing physical Neuron sensors units at critical points across its grid. This decision marks an important milestone, as ENO upgrades their grid monitoring system to a hybrid solution, combining the scalability of virtual sensors with the precision of physical ones, obtaining enhanced grid insights and optimization throughout their network.

A Heimdall Power customer since last spring, Energienetze Offenbach is a German DSO, located in the Western parts of the country, where they serve more than 135 000 households on a daily basis.

For the next 5-10 years, ENO has identified a clear need to increase the transmission capacity of its grid significantly. This new project expansion will contribute directly to that, by elevating real-time monitoring and improve data accuracy even further.

As a part of its long-term strategy, ENO is also preparing to reconductor lines with high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors. Heimdall Power’s Neurons will be moved over to these upgraded lines in the future, ensuring consistent grid awareness and performance optimization.

The installation of the physical Neurons will be carried out on fully energized power lines, with Heimdall’s autonomous drone system, ensuring swift and safe deployment without the need for any outages.

“This addition of physical Neurons to their system demonstrates ENO's trust in our technology and the value our Virtual Neurons have already delivered. We are proud to continue building on this partnership and supporting ENO as they modernize their grid for the needs of today and tomorrow.”
