Building on successful research projects, Heimdall Power is now extending the collaboration with Troms Kraft Nett.

We are very happy to announce that we have signed two contracts with Troms Kraft Nett, Norway´s sixth biggest DSO. Our friends at Troms Kraft Nett will now utilize more than a dozen of Neurons from Heimdall Power to instrument multiple lines in their area of operation, which is located in the Northern parts of Norway.

One of the contracts is focusing on including the power production from a new local wind farm, as the grip capacity in the area needs to be increased in order to accommodate for the full production from the wind farm . Instead of waiting 10 years and paying 30m€  Troms Kraft Nett will now solve this problem by using Dynamic Line Rating technology from Heimdall Power, utilizing our Neurons to increase their capacity in the given area. In this way, more renewable energy can be fed directly into the grid, in a matter of weeks instead of years!

The second contract is for instrumenting a line in another part of Troms Kraft Nett’s grids, where spans often have been critically low. The lines in question are single handedly serving a whole municipality, hence it is very important to keep this critical piece of infrastructure operative at all times. As consumption has grown, the line capacity has also become an issue, something Troms Kraft Nett is now looking to solve by the implementation of Heimdall Power Neurons.

Together these two cases show how the technology of Heimdall Power is contributing to making the grid smarter, safer and more resilient.

Project manager at Heimdall Power, Gunnar Vist, is very happy about the deal with Troms Kraft Nett:

“This shows that our thorough research projects finally are starting to pay off. We are thrilled to have Troms Kraft Nett onboard as our customer, and look forward to work closely with them over the coming years. Given the forward-leaning management team they possess I think this is going to be a great partnership, hopefully with even more contracts down the road.”
