“Heimdall’s vision is to digitize power grids globally. The ISO certifications are important milestones on the road to achieving this goal, as they streamline and professionalize the company, offering international clients the assurance they need for choosing Heimdall, and hopefully opening new markets for us,” says Nan Li, VP QHSE at Heimdall Power. “It feels like a power-up for our entire organization, from internal engineers and sales force to external suppliers and partners.”

From January 25, 2022, Heimdal Power will satisfy the strict requirements of ISO certifications NS-EN ISO 9001:2015 and NS-EN ISO 14001:2015. In layman’s terms, this translates into a formal recognition of Heimdall Power as a responsible, reliable and sustainable company – all key factors for TSOs and DSOs when choosing business partners.

It feels like a power-up for our entire organization, from internal engineers and sales force to external suppliers and partners.

Preparing for future energy needs

Heimdall Power designs and manufactures a digital product called Neuron, which gathers important real-time data from powerlines in order to optimize their efficiency.

“I think it’s safe to say that this winter’s energy crisis in Norway and Europe has been a real eye-opener for consumers, grid owners and politicians alike. It has become all too apparent that the current system has its challenges in terms of both capacity and bottlenecks, and that there’s a lot to gain if you can optimize efficiency through digitization. But that’s only today. In the future, as the green shift gains further momentum, the demand for electricity will skyrocket when industry, transport and buildings replace fossil fuels with green sources for their power needs,” she continues.

“The Neuron can contribute to this transition by enabling TSOs to supply electrical power more efficiently, thereby maximizing the capacity that is already available – without costly investments in new infrastructure. Anders Skånlund, our CCO, calls unlocking the power grid’s true capacity with the Neuron a https://heimdallpower.com/grid-capacities/ situation. Given the challenges that both businesses and society at large face in the shift from fossil to renewables, I think his point is more valid than ever.”

Easier with ISO

Heimdall Power already has several national TSOs and DSOs on its client list. Nan Li is confident that ISO certification will make it easier for international clients to embrace the Neuron’s ability to reduce costs, increase efficiency and create the opportunity for more renewable energy generation. For consumers, whether industrial or private, the Neuron will reduce price fluctuations and provide a more secure power supply.

“The Neuron can be applied to any medium to high-voltage OHL grid and will provide information that helps the grid owner optimize output through error detection, safety monitoring and real-time capacity data. ISO certification will make it easier for us to get this message across to international clients because certification provides assurance and ‘proof’ that Heimdall Power is a reliable and trustworthy partner. In many cases, companies won’t even consider a partner without the proper ISO certifications, so I’m hopeful that this will open more doors and bring us closer to fulfilling our mission: to optimize power grid utilization using our state-of-the-art software and unique hardware technology.”
