After a thorough tender process, Heimdall Power has been selected as the provider of overhead line sensors for Austrian DSO Netz Niederösterreich GmbH.
The frame agreement includes 200 Neuron overhead line sensors from Heimdall Power. However, the project can also be expanded to a maximum of around 270 sensors within the realms of the existing contract, which would make this the world’s largest Dynamic Line Rating project as of yet.

Spanning an initial period of 10 years, NNÖ will use the software and Neuron sensor units from Heimdall Power to perform Heimdall DLR across their distribution grid.
Netz Niederösterreich is based in the North-eastern parts of Austria, often dubbed Lower Austria, where they serve around 1.000.000 customers on a daily basis.
CEO of Heimdall Power, Jørgen Festervoll, expressed his enthusiasm about the groundbreaking new project in the following manner:
“Today marks yet another milestone for Heimdall Power, announcing the biggest DLR-contract in the history of the company and perhaps in the world! It’s been a thorough process with NNÖ leading up to this point, and we are now excited to share it with the world and to get started. The 10-year timeline for the contract is a first for Heimdall Power, and underlines the long-term relationship we are building with our customers. We look forward to working closely with NNÖ over the next years, making sure they get the most out of our solution both from existing and potential future use-cases.”
